Lesley Smith
Lesley Smith hails from Southern California. She’s an
accomplished backpacker with multiple thru-hikes of the John Muir Trail and 550
miles of Spain’s Camino de Santiago under her belt. With a love for nature and
natural athleticism, it’s no surprise that fly fishing came naturally to
Lesley. Now hooked on the rush of catching fish on the fly, Lesley has travelled
with her husband, Dave Smith, all over the world catching everything from
tarpon, bonefish, and barramundi to chaopraya catfish, mahseer, and mako shark.
Her fly fishing skills have also led her to become a team member of the very
first Women’s USA fly fishing team. When she isn’t out on the water, Lesley
works as a PE teacher, where over the course of 19 years, she’s taught at the
high school, elementary, and now middle school level. She also enjoys designing
and tying flies and being an ambassador for the sport.
