The Bangin’ Baetis was designed with a slim profile to cut quickly through the water column. I developed this patternto imitate the small baetis and midges that are present nearly year-round. In heavily pressured waters where trout see the same baetis patterns repeatedly, this fly offers a fresh silhouette. The dark body creates a strong profile, while the contrasting thorax provides a subtle trigger point. A resin wing case adds durability and mimics a trapped air bubble, making the fly appear vulnerable and an easy snack. The Bangin’ Baetis fishes best under an indicator or when tightlined, and excels as a confidence fly when small, dark patterns are producing. Its slender build and understated flash make it a natural fit for modern nymphing.
