Joey Takeman describes himself as a goofy, ambitious young buck with a devoted old soul who is a fishing nerd through and through. Joey lives in Connecticut and has an obsession with chasing anything that swims with a fly rod. That includes weary wild brown trout in his home waters of the Farmington River, carp from his paddleboard, musky with a 15wt rod, stripers and false albacore in the salt, and many other species to come! Joey is the General Manager for The Local Fly Co, located in New Hartford, CT, and is also a board member of the Farmington River Anglers Association. When Joey isn’t on the water, you can find him “playing shop rat”, helping others with any fly fishing-related needs to chase their own success out on the water. You might also find Joey tying flies to refill his fly boxes or creating informative social media content for all to learn from and enjoy. Joey feels grateful for and blessed to have such a great community of people around him that support his wildest goals and dreams. Joey always seeks to give back where he can, including to everyone who supports him and the fisheries that he enjoys! If you are an avid angler of the Farmington River watershed, please consider becoming a Farmington River Anglers Association member! Everything the organization does goes right back to preserving, protecting, and enhancing the Farmington—a Blue Ribbon, destination fishery in New England. FRAA greatly appreciates any support!
