Marina Gibson is a passionate and accomplished angler who spent much of her childhood chasing salmon, trout, and sea trout. Following in the footsteps of her talented mother, Joanna Gibson — herself a devoted fly fisher — Marina has dedicated her life to pursuing fish of every kind, wherever in the world that journey may lead.

Marina is an ambassador for Orvis, the Atlantic Salmon Trust, and Fishing For Schools. In June 2019, she launched The Northern Fishing School at Swinton Estate in North Yorkshire, where she and her team teach fly fishing to all ages and abilities — inspiring people to connect with the outdoors and the restorative power of nature.

A certified Fly Fishers International (CI) Instructor, 1st4Sport Level 2 coach, and freelance writer, Marina embodies both professionalism and passion. As she puts it:

“Fishing is one of the most mindful sports you can do – the art of fly fishing requires complete concentration and total absorption. It is both exhilarating and relaxing. It’s how I find calm — and I know others would benefit from giving it a go too. Get outdoors; it’s great for the mind and soul.”

Through her teaching, writing, and advocacy, Marina continues to make fly fishing more accessible and inviting to everyone — especially new generations discovering the joy of the sport.
