Martyn grew up fly fishing for trout, pike and the odd grayling in the west of Scotland. There, he he fell in love with simple functional flies that do what they're supposed to. Now, almost forty years later, he’s lived and fished in several countries. He currently splits his fishing between warm water for carp, black bass and snakehead, and salt water species whether it's Tokyo Bay seabass, mahi or tuna. When he’s not at home he targets trevally, bones and triggers around southern Japan and other locations in the South Pacific and Indian Oceans. After all these years, he still believes in putting function first when it comes to designing flies.
