Weiss' Hi-Top Caddis certainly won't be the prettiest fly you see this week, but this fly was designed to serve a very specific purpose. Its purpose was to deliver a small Firefly or BP perdigon properly at distance, while being subtle enough to not disturb technical fish. This requires a fly that floats well without excess bulk or weight and doesn’t push too much air during the cast. This is why it features a thread body and very sparse synthetic wing.
